Pests!

Rose & Will picked these tomato hornworms off the tomatoes. :( There were at least 20-30 of them. We picked them off and fed them to our chickens, then I sprayed with pyrethrin and ordered some more pyrethrin mixed with diatemaceous earth to continue to apply. They did quite a bit of damage, especially to the red delicious plants. It is amazing how much they can eat overnight. I am thankful for my almost 7-year old son who loves bugs!
We have also recently encountered squash beetles, eggs, nymphs and adults on the zucchini, and japanese beetles on the beans. The pyrethrin is supposed to help control all of these pests. I hope it is as good as it is said to be! It is so dissapointing to see your plants and crops diminishing.
